OXASWITCH goal is to synthesize a new type of heteroaryl azo (N=N) and/or imino/hydrazone (C=N) containing compounds able to act as molecular switches, under physical (i.e. light) or chemical (i.e. pH, metal ions) stimuli. The field of molecular switches is still young, but moving fast forward, whose applications have recently been growing and presumed to have a great impact on materials and biological sciences. We approach a topic that has recently brought fascinating results using simple structures with high impact in fundamental research.
